Having the opportunity to travel to Hawaii is the adventure of a lifetime. There’s so many places to go and see. You could never not have something to do here. In pictures all you see in Hawaii is the clear ocean and white sand. But that’s nothing close to what it is like. If I had the option to move to Waikiki, Hawaii I would be there in less than a day.
Being able to stay and the Hyatt Regency and Spa hotel is an opportunity of a lifetime. There’s so many things to do and see like; going to the pool on the 4th floor, being able to have a snack while sitting on the patio of the 40th floor, along with going shopping at one of the 60 stores in the hotel. Now you can’t just go on an adventure in your hotel, you are going to have to stroll out of your hotel, and see the wonders of Waikiki.
Walking down the streets of Waikiki you will find stores, authentic restaurants, and even markets. You will never be bored here. Starting off with the clothes stores you can find; Bebe, Coach, Raulph Loren, and even Macy’s. One of Hawaii’s most famous stores is the ABC store. You can find one of these stores on every block and corner that you find. Inside the ABC store you can find things like sun tan lotion, boogey boards and even toothbrushes. They really come in handy. For the restaurants you have the option of eating at The Rainforest cafĂ©, which is actually inside a tree house and also travel to different culture foods like; Viatnemiese, Chinese, Thai, Hawaiian, and Japanese.
Now let’s talk about my trip to Hawaii. When I went to Hawaii I experienced so many things. One thing was swimming in the ocean for the first time ever. Once I stepped into the rough ocean I was scared of sharks, but then I got onto my boogey board and sailed away. Another thing I did was eat shrimp. I had never had shrimp in my life before, but after swimming at North Shore we stopped at the Shrimp Truck and had shrimp and Icee’s. I also had the opportunity to swim at the University of Hawaii. It was an outdoor pool right next to volcanoes. It was a pretty cool college.
One of my favorite things though was going to the markets. At the markets you could buy all kinds of things. Lay’s, necklace’s, bracelet’s and you can even catch you own oyster and keep the pearl inside. The market was also full of ponds, and birds too. I went back to the market every day, because I loved it so much. I also was able to get small gifts for all of my friends, even at a low price.
Also when I was there me and my sisters went off to some of the highest fashion stores in Hawaii. We didn’t buy anything though, because it was so expensive, but we had a good time trying on all of the clothes and taking cool pictures.
In addition on the first day of our trip we were able to have malasadas. Malasadas is a kind of doughnut that is very popular in Hawaii. It is a soft bread type base covered in sugar, and filled with fillings like custard, haupia, or dobash. I had about 4 of those on the first day.
And probably one of the most fun adventures that I had was parasailing. I was able to go parasailing with my other two sisters. It was fun because from our hotel window my grandma and aunt could see us up in the air. It was also cool because there was an airplane right above us, and we got a cool picture of that. I also got to see the ocean was a deep blue, and there were also about 20 dolphins swimming next to the boat.
As you can tell I had the best time in Hawaii. Even though I was only there for a week, I could go on forever talking about all my adventures. I can’t wait to go back to Hawaii this year. I will come back with a lot more adventures.

"The Tell-Tale Heart"
Walking gradually down the staircase. Nothing at all going through your head, besides the fact someone is knocking at your door. The chaos spinning around your head just stops; you remember that you have just murdered someone, and the cops are waiting at the door. It’s midnight. What’s going to happen next, and are they going to find the old man that no longer lives? Hearing his heart beat in your head couldn’t bring anymore fear to you, than you already have. Having been held on the spot after you have just killed someone, makes you feel like you can’t carry on with your life.
Having to live in the same house as the man with the “evil eye” would be terrifying, thinking that he is going to kill you. Caring for this man is a superior responsibility, because you are in his house and watching over him. Even thinking about murdering someone, can bring a shiver down your back. Poe’s thought to this story was that the old man was getting to the caretaker, and that the man couldn’t take it any longer, so he killed him.
The symbolism that represents this story goes back to the old man’s murder. When there is a knock on the downstairs door, the caretaker walks down the stairs. This usually represents that something tragic is going to happen. When the cops go upstairs, the manon puts a chair on top of the wood floor when the old man lies. While they are talking the man’s thoughts relate back to the old man’s mortal terror, and heartbeat, which shares on page 383.
Finally he lets it out that he is the mad man, that he killed the old man, and that he is beneath the boards. On page 385 it reads, “Villains, dissemble no more! I admit the deed! Tear up the planks! Here-here-here! It is the beating of his hideous heart.” This part of the story explains how miserable he felt in front of the police officers.
“The Tell-Tale Heart” was a story about forgiveness. After the caretaker murdered the old man he felt guilty of what he did. To make it would he confessed what he did in front of the police men. After something like this happens it is hard to move on in your life, when you feel that you will be living in a puddle of guilt forever.

Goals for essays and creative essays
-another goal for my essays is to use good word choices, not just boring words.
-one goal for my creative piece is to think of a good topic, that will make people want to keep reading my story, and so that they won't be bored.

Trip to Dubai
2 hours before the flight
“Mom, Dad lets go. We only have two hours before the flight leaves. Come on! I can’t wait until we get there, Dubai is supposed to be amazing! Wait Mom, we have to fly over the ocean right?” asked Rachel.
“Yes, Rachel,” said her mom.
“ I hope nothing happens to us,” Rachel said nervously.
“Don’t worry we will be fine, just enjoy it,” her mom answered.
“Ok,” Rachel said happily.
“Do we have everyone? Let’s see; Rachel, Keith, Leah, Matt, and Zach. Alright let’s get into the plane,” Mom confirms.
“Dude, I’m so pumped to be going. It’s going to be beast,” Zach cheered.
6 hours into the flight
“Are we almost there?” Rachel wonders.
“Just about 3 more hours and we will be arriving,” said Captain Sri.
“Hey Rachel why don’t you just relax and listen to your iPod,” said her mom?
“It’s to bumpy on this plane,” Rachel said.
“Just close your eyes, we’ll be there before you know it,” said her mom.
7 ½ hours into the flight
“Are we going through turbulence or something, because it’s really getting bumpy?” Rachel questions.
“No, there shouldn’t be any turbulence around here, and it doesn’t show any on my map,” said captain Sri.
“Then why is it so bumpy?” asks Rachel.
Boom!
“What was that?” Everyone asks.
“Hold on everyone,” Captain Sri yelled. “Were going down!”
“I love you guys,” Rachel screamed!
“Help! Help! Oh my god! Were in the ocean. Somebody help! Matt, Zach, Leah! Where are you?” Rachel screamed.
“Rachel, were right here, come over by us.” Zach says.
“We’re going to die, I knew something bad was going to happen to us in the ocean,” Rachel sobbed. How are we going survive in the ocean with no food, water, or surface to sit on. Wait? Why can I stand? I feel sand under my feet for some reason.”
“Rachel, turn around…” Mom says.
“An island? Is it Dubai?” Rachel wonders.
“No it’s probably just an island in the middle of the ocean,” said Dad.
“This is just like that one show, Can you survive? I can’t believe this is happening to us. Why us? Well I guess our only chance of surviving it to try to build a hut here, and eat the food that we can find,” exclaimed Leah.
“I guess it could be fun, and if we make it back we can tell many stories to our friends,” said Matt.
“Yeah that is if we do make it back,” Rachel said.
Day 1 on the island
“What are we supposed to eat on this stupid island,” said Leah.
“We will try to find anything we can to eat,” said mom.
“Isn’t it true though that if a human goes a week without water they will die? I learned that in science class and I am pretty sure there is no clean water around her,” said Leah.
“Actually there is a way to drink water here. All we have to do is gather water from the ocean and boil it so all of the bacteria and salt disappear,” said Rachel.
“Yeah sure, and where are you hoping to get a bowl from,” said Leah.
“Well, we can probably dive down and make one from the remains of the plane,” Rachel said.
“Ok, well I’m not going to be the one diving down there,” Leah said angrily.
That night the Martin family made a shelter out of leaves and big branches that they found. During the night though there was a big storm that swept away most of the hut, and also some of the food they gathered. So they decided to move their hut away from the shore, and into the middle of the island.
The island that they eventually named, “Manahali” was about 5 miles wide and 5 miles long. Once they got to the middle of the island they were shocked. There in the middle was a clear waterfall and pond. Surrounding it there were also tall palm trees. This is where they decided to live for now. With clear drinking water, and tall trees for houses they knew they could survive.
Day 7
A week after their plane crashed they have already built 3 small houses, and have gathered plenty of food. Unfortunately though the water that they have been drinking had a poisonous bacteria that got them all sick. Zach was the one that is the worst, he hasn’t stopped throwing up, and we have no medicine for him.
Day 10
“Zach hasn’t been doing too well. He hasn’t stopped throwing up all the time that we have been here. We hope that he makes it.” Mom answered.
“Rachel, Leah go gather some food for dinner,” mom said.
“Ok well get right on it.” Rachel said.
“Ugh Rachel you can go gather the food.” Leah said.
“Fine I will.” Rachel answered quietly.
“Oh alright, I’ll come help, gosh.” Leah gasped.
5 hours later
“Geez, that was such a long day,” Matt gasped.
“Ya, but at least we got some food, and clean water,” said dad.
“Ouch,” Zach screamed!
“What….what’s wrong Zach?”
“Ahh! My stomach kills. Help me! Ahh.” Zach cried.
Then everything just went to a dead silence.
“Zach? You there?”
That night Zach died, because there was nothing we could do for him. He was just too sick. We had a little ceremony for him, and shared wonderful memories that we had together.
Day 15
“Let’s go swimming,” Leah said?
“Leah, how can you think about going swimming right after Zach died. Let’s just go another time, alright?” Matt said.
“Kids, why don’t you just go swimming, and have a good time. Just put the stress of losing your brother behind and just enjoy swimming.” Mom said.
“Alright mom.” Matt yelled.
Mom was still very depressed that her son has passed away. We all are still very sad to. We didn’t’ know that we were going to lose him. On the other hand since it was such a nice, and sunny day all of the kids decided to go for a swim. They were having so much fun, but didn’t know they were about to be in for a lot of trouble.
“Haha Keith stop pulling on my leg, Leah said.”
“Leah, I’m way over her, said Keith.”
“Then Matt stop it.”
“Leah what are you talking about I’m way over her, said Matt.”
“Well if mom, dad, and Rachel are on the beach then who is….”
10 hours later
“How can all of this be happening to us! First it was Zach and now it’s Leah! I just wanna leave so badly,” Rachel cried.
This all happened so fast. In the first place we were planning a great family vacation to Dubai but then it ended tragically. When you think about planning vacations you don’t imagine 2 of you family members dying in a tragic way.
Day 20
“I don’t think we can last much longer. If we don’t get help soon were going to all die. Everyone is so sad that Zach and Leah are gone.” Rachel said sadly.
3 hours before the flight to Dubai
“Rachel wake up, wake up,” Leah exclaimed! Today is the day were going to Dubai! Woohoo!
(Rachel) I thought to myself, what? Was this just all a dream. How could this be possible. It was all so real.
“Mom are we going to Dubai today,” Rachel asked?
“Yes, you’ve been counting down days for a long time. How could you forget,” said her mom.
“Mom, I don’t want to go anymore. You can’t make me go. Please!”
“What! What’s up with you Rachel. You have been waiting to go for so long, how come you don’t want to go,” asked her mom.
“Don’t go, don’t go!”
2 weeks later
“Grandma? Where is everyone? And why am I in this hospital bed,” Rachel said.
“Well, you had a stroke, and you have been in a coma for 2 weeks. Your family left for Dubai, because they couldn’t waste the money that they spent on this trip.
“Wait so they left?”
“Yes.”
“No grandma they couldn’t no! They’re all going to die. Call them now! Please!” Rachel screamed.
“Alright, Alright.” Grandma said surprisingly.
“Ring, Ring…we’re sorry the number you have reached is unavailable. Please call your phone company for any question,” said the phone operator.
“Ok, they didn’t answer, but I will call their hotel, and ask the hotel if they checked in,” said grandma.
“Ring, Ring…hello.”
“Hi this is Susie James, I was wondering if the Martin family has checked into your hotel?” Grandma said.
“Let me see………no sorry there was never a Martin family that has stayed here. But it says that they were supposed to be here about 2 weeks ago, but I guess they never showed,” said the front desk. “
Grandma then sat the phone down and just cried, and cried. Turns out my family never made it to Dubai…
