Teen Pregnancy

Lately teen pregnancies in America have been going up. There have been over 71.5 pregnancies for every 1,000 women. These pregnancies occasionally occur around the ages 17 and under. This happens to be a big problem , because these girls live normal lives and are in schools until they get pregnant and then their dreams get ruined. This is also a big problem because some people are having abortions. Imagine getting pregnant and then just giving up your baby, it’s just not fair. You shouldn’t get pregnant in the first place, and also these teens are way too young.

This news story was published, because it’s trying to warn young teens before it’s too late and they get pregnant. There’s just too many young people getting pregnant, and it has to stop.

Diamond Head

While in Hawaii we were able to climb Diamond Head Crater. Diamond Head was once a military base for soldiers in the Vietnam War. In the middle of this Crater was a big hole, big enough for military bases to be held. With 200 meter high rocks around the inside, I would say it was pretty safe.
When we went to Diamond Head we took a full day to climb it, because it was going to take a while and we wanted to go to the top. Inside of the rocks were staircases which lead to the top. It took about an 45 min to get to the top and 15 minutes to get down.
At the top you have to climb through small cellars to get to the very top overlooking the whole city of Honolulu. That was my favorite part because me and my sisters got a really cool picture of all of us overlooking the city.
Diamond Head was a very fun experience, because not many people get to go to Diamond Head Crater, and get to look over the whole city.

Library Nightmare

Library Nightmare
When I was little I would always go to the Brookfield Public Library with my mom, grandma and sisters. We loved going there are looking at all of the books and movies. One day though that all changed, and we haven’t gone back since.
While we were checking out at the library with our pile of books my sisters and I were all just sitting on the ground waiting to go. Then all of a sudden my mom said, “Time to go,” and we all jumped for joy! I went over to tell my little sister Anna to go because she wasn’t listening and wouldn’t get up. I told my mom she wasn’t listening and my mom went over to get her and when she lifted her up Anna’s whole face has been transformed to a blue-purple color. Turns out she hasn’t been breathing this whole time. She was in the middle of having a seizure.
We all were panicking and my mom screamed to the librarian to call an ambulance! Me and my sister’s didn’t know what was going on except for the fact that our little sister could be dead in 20 minutes.
Right next to the library was a fire station with police cars, fire trucks, and ambulance’s! We were relived because it was so close, but they weren’t going to send help from that station, because they were on a call and had all of the trucks and supplies. So we were there waiting for another 5 minutes until they came.
While my mom was holding Anna and trying to wake her up a very nice lady came over to comfort us. I will never forget her because I remember her telling us that everything is going to be ok, and that the paramedics will be here soon. She was there with us up until the ambulance left with our little sister.
While my mom and Anna drove away in the ambulance we had to be escorted to the police cars and wait until my grandma came to get us. While waiting in the cars I remember the officers giving us each a teddy bear.
The week after that we went back to that fire station to give them all cookies, because they saved our little sister. If it weren’t for them I wouldn’t have my little sister like I do today, and nothing would be the same.
This was my story of the “Library Nightmare”

The Giver review

In my opinion I did not like the play The Giver. To me it was very plain and nothing in it caught my attention, but I was expecting that. I was expecting that, because I knew that it would be plain and have no color just like the book was. Something also that I did not like were the sounds and that some of the actors had two parts. That got me confused, because Fiona was also Lily and I got confused which one was which. I also thought the play should’ve had props. If it would’ve had props I could have enjoyed it more.

Italy

Something exciting that might be happening for me is that me and my family may be traveling to Italy in a couple of years. We might go there for my Aunt’s birthday. I have always wanted to go somewhere out of the Country and this is my opportunity to. Going to Italy would be a experience of a lifetime. There would be so many places to see and so many things to do.

- Went to Chicago: shopped and saw the blue men
- Hung out with friends
- It was my birthday
- Had a cookout
- I went on a train

Over my spring break I did a lot of fun things. The following Saturday that we got off of school I went to Chicago. I went there to shop and to go see the blue men. To get down there I took a train, and it was really cool. I also hung out with a lot of my friends, and watched movies and stuff. It was also my birthday, and I got to pick out a camera. On the last day of spring break I had a cookout and some of my friends came.

Creative essay

Weather report for Apirl 15, 2010: There has been a tornado warning for the following counties…Brown County, Jackson County, Marshall County and Nemaha County. This warning is in effect until 12:00 pm. This storm is most likely to stay only in the north-east part of Kansas and there are possible chances that it will move to the south in Pottawatomie County.

“Mom do I have to go to school today if there is a tornado warning coming our way,” Emily said.

“It’s fine, the weather man said that it was only possible to happen,” Mom said.

“Are you sure because I don’t want there to be a tornado in the middle of school.”

“If there is a tornado you guys will be safe inside the school, just go in the bathroom and keep your head down.”

“So your saying there is going to be a tornado?!”

“No, I’m just preparing you in case there is.”

“Ok well I am off to school with Lizzie!”

That day a f4 tornado rolled in the county of Pottawatomie, killing over 30 people. Luckily though Emily did what her mom said to and went into the bathroom and put her head down. Unfortunately there was little warning so not many people survived at her school.

When the storm was finally over Emily went outside and tried to help people out who needed assistants. Along with losing some of her classmates she also lost her best friend Lizzie.

“Why did this happen to Lizzie and not me,” Emily said.

“Emily we will find her,” said her mom.

After hours of searching they finally found Lizzie barely alive.

“But...but I thought you were dead?” said Emily.

“I need help, my leg is broken. Please help me,” said Lizzie.

That night Lizzie was sent to a hospital with a broken leg and arm. And from that day on they always watched out for each other in this kind of situation.
